Summary: Bastien and MC (Alice) get caught in the rain.
Notes: This is a fic for the prompt from @lilyofchoices: “Kissing prompt: In the rain + lust for Bastien x MC” from this list of Kiss Prompts. Admittedly, the lust doesn’t really show up until the end, but I hope you enjoy it anyway 🙂 Thank you for the request!
“I’m not sure I like the look of those clouds,” Bastien said as they walked through the gardens of Valtoria, eyeing the quickly darkening sky.
“Oh, come on, you’re no fun,” Alice teased, squeezing his hand. “Doesn’t it remind you of some kind of gothic novel? Walking hand in hand with your lover through the moors…it’s romantic.”
“It’d be more romantic if one or both of the lovers didn’t usually die in one of those books,” Bastien pointed out. Alice rolled her eyes.
“Alright, spoilsport, we can head back,” Alice said as they turned and started to head back towards the manor. No sooner had she said those words when a huge thunderclap sounded, ringing out across Valtoria. “That was ominous. Think I can train the sky to do that every time someone at court pisses me off?”
Bastien laughed. “If anyone can control the weather, I’d put my money on you.”
The first few raindrops began to splash against their skin and they quickened their pace, but before long, the rain had begun to fall in earnest. Suddenly, Bastien stopped, pulling Alice to a stop. She looked at him questioningly as he pulled her close and pushed the wet hair back from her forehead.
“If you’re really into the gothic fantasy, I think it’d be a shame to miss out on a kiss in the rain,” Bastien said, bringing his face closer, his nose brushing against hers.
“Then you should hurry up and kiss me before I succumb to the vapors,” Alice murmured.
Bastien grinned and closed the distance between them, his lips a warm contrast to the cool rain that fell down around them. She pressed herself more tightly against him, cupping his face in her hands as he tightly wound his arms around her waist. The rain grew colder and began to fall harder, and although she was loathe to stop kissing him, Alice finally broke away.
“Okay, fine, I admit it–this scenario is much sexier on the page than it is in real life,” Alice said, making him laugh. “I’m freezing!”
“Then why don’t we get you inside and I’ll warm you up?” Bastien suggested, brushing his lips against her ear.
“Mmm…what did you have in mind?”
“Something that would be far too scandalous for a gothic novel.”
