Summary: James confesses his feelings to MC (Charlotte). (NSFW-ish)
Notes: This fic is for a request from @cora-nova using the prompt “James x MC: In the shower, Confessing feelings” from this list of Kiss Prompts. It takes place before the beginning of my Writer’s Retreat AU. Thank you for the request!
“Charlie.”
“Mrmph.”
“Charlie, wake up.”
“Mrmph.”
“I’m sorry, love, but it’s time to get up.”
“MRMPH.”
“Charlotte.”
Charlotte cracked open one eye and glared at James. “What part of ‘mrmph’ did you not understand?”
“You’re going to be late for your first class.”
“I’m dropping that class in favor of sleep.”
“It’s your capstone class, you can’t drop it. Come on, I already turned on the shower.” James held out his hands to her and she heaved a huge sigh before putting her hands in his and allowing him to gently pull her into a sitting position.
“Hi,” she said.
“Hi,” James said with a grin as he leaned in and kissed her cheek. “How late did you stay up writing last night?”
“I’d rather not say,” Charlotte said with a yawn. “You said something about a shower.”
“Yup, come on.”
After Charlotte dragged herself to her feet, she followed James to his bathroom. Steam clouded the glass walls of the shower and it smelled like James had used a shower melt, the bathroom smelling of vanilla and lavender.
“I’m going to go start breakfast while you shower,” James said. He turned to go, but Charlotte caught his hand.
“You’re not going to make me stay in here all by myself, are you?” she asked, smirking as she raised one eyebrow at him.
“I thought you were tired,” James said as he grinned and slid his arms around her waist.
“I’m feeling a little more awake,” Charlotte said, tilting her hips against his.
“You are really determined to miss your class, aren’t you?”
“I mean, if you’re not interested–” Charlotte said before he leaned in and kissed her, cutting her off mid-sentence.
“I’m always interested,” he murmured against her smile as he slid his fingers under the edge of the shirt she’d borrowed.
“Good.”
They quickly undressed and got into the shower, wrapping their arms around each other under the rainfall of water. James leaned in to kiss her, then paused.
“What? Do I have really bad morning breath? I’m sorry!” Charlotte exclaimed, clapping a hand over her mouth. James laughed.
“No, not at all,” he said, tugging her hand from her mouth. “I just…I need to tell you something.”
“Okay…is this a good something or a bad something?”
“It’s good. At least, I hope you’ll think it’s good,” James said. “I…wow, I didn’t think I’d be this nervous.”
“James, you’re freaking me out here.”
“I love you.”
Charlotte stared at him. “You…what?”
“I love you,” James repeated. “I don’t want to pressure you if you’re not ready to say it, but I needed you to know.”
“I love you, too.”
“Yeah?” James asked, a wide grin spreading across his face. “You’re not just saying that because I said it?”
“Of course not,” Charlotte said. “I’m saying it because I love you. Also, you’re naked.”
James laughed and lightly smacked her ass. “Moment ruiner.”
“Yeah, but you love me.”
“I do,” he said as he kissed her. “I love you so much.”
Charlotte missed her class.
